As much as I love my DSLR camera and teaching moms how make the most of their investment, if you’ve known me for any amount of time you also know I’m a HUGE fan of the camera on my iPhone too. I love figuring out new tips and tricks to make working with it easier. And, as a busy mom I know it’s the camera I will always have with me, so it’s the one that captures 99% of our family snapshots.
But, one thing I’ve consistently been frustrated with were the editing tools available to truly bring my high quality iPhone pics to life. As much as I am in love with Instagram, I mostly use it for the social aspects and not so much for its stellar editing capabilities.
I’ve downloaded and invested in WAY too many other iPhone photo apps to count, and while some have been good none of them have given me the amount of control I desire. I’ve been saying for years how awesome it would be if an app would let me layer effects (one on top of the other), or adjust the amount of an effect that gets applied when selected just like I can do when I put a photo into Picmonkey or Photoshop on the computer.
And then, as if by magic, the totally rad developers at Totally Rad read my mind. My search for the perfect iPhone app is over! And as of today it can be over for you too!
They recently released their iPhone App PicTapGo! ($1.99) and it’s seriously a game changer.
The amount of features with this app are impressive and too many to mention, but here are just a few of my favorites:
- An intuitive interface that can be picked up and used by moms (and kids!) without much instruction or guidance.
- The amount of available filters are impressive and can be mixed and matched beautifully
- If a filter is applied to strongly for your tastes there’s a simple slider to draw back the effect on your photo.
- You can layer them! Once you find a combination you like you can even save your perfect recipe and use it again later.
- There are lots of options for sharing, including uploading directly to Instagram or Facebook, or Twitter directly from the PicTapGo! app.
I seriously can’t say enough good things about this app and what it offers to the busy mom capturing snapshots with her iPhone while on the go with her kids and family.
