Keep It Simple: A Conversation with Kyle Shultz

Burn out is real, and it can be life changing. See, we all face burn out now and again, but the way that we react to those important feelings can have an incredible impact on how we live our lives. We can let burn out completely take over while we shut ourselves down and give up on our goals, our families, and our passions, or we can take burn out as a sign that we need some change, and we can refocus on what’s really important. We can use our burn out to learn to keep it simple. Thankfully, today’s guest on the Recapture Self podcast learned that very lesson, and he’s sharing it with us today!

I’m chatting with Kyle Shultz, the founder of Shultz Photo School, where he teaches parents how to take better pics of their kids. Kyle’s career has included everything from working for a non-profit ministry for 5 years, to owning a busy photography studio for 6 years, to serving as a full-time (paid) firefighter for 4 years. Kyle lives in Springfield, IL with his high school sweetheart, Julie, and 3 kids.

Use Burn Out to Learn to Keep it Simple

Kyle and I share a common thread teaching photography to parents and I loved hearing more about his story and nuggets of creative wisdom. Today we chat about:

  • Kyle’s burnout story and how it led him to a new motto of “keep it simple” in business and life
  • The importance of trial, error, and poking around different interests to find your identity.
  • How Kyle let’s go of perfection and follows his passion so he can make a deeper impact in the world.
  • Plus Kyle leaves us with one of his favorite photo tips too.

You can find Kyle at Shultz Photo School.
